18TH ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATIONS

Rajah Rehabilitation Centre celebrated the glorious and most successfully accomplished 18thAnnual Day on 19th February 2019 at Rajah Hall with great enthusiasm and fervour. The programme commenced with prayer song.Dr. N. Pfizer (Consultant Psychiatrist, Rajah Rehabilitation Centre) gave his welcome speech and introduction of the esteemed Chief Guest. Dr. V. K. Radhakrishnan, MD(International Vice-president, The world association for psychosocial rehabilitation, WAPR). He also highlighted the achievements of the Rajah Rehabilitation Centre during the past years.

Dr. R. V Damodaran (Medical Superintend, Rajah Charitable Medical Trust) presided over the programme and appreciated the activities of Rajah Rehabilitation Centre during the past 18 years. He also motivated participants of sheltered workshop and faculties for do better in future.

The Chief Guest Dr. V. K. Radhakrishnan, MD (International Vice-president, The world association for psychosocial rehabilitation, WAPR) inaugurated the formal function. In his address at the outset saluted Mr. A.Abdul Salam, Managing Trustee, Rajah Group of Companies, for his outstanding services in the field of psychosocial rehabilitation and presented the highest & prestigious ‘Heroes of Rehabilitation Award-2016’ instituted by world association of psychosocial rehabilitation-Indian Chapter. He also appreciated all the faculties, vocational instructors and all the participants & caregivers of sheltered workshop for their uniqueness, courage, hard work and commitmentin the rehabilitation programme. The Chief Guest also enlightened the needs of psychosocial rehabilitation in today’s era.

Dr. V. K. Radhakrishnan and Mr. A.Abdul Salam together presented a memento to Dr. N. Pfizer for his admirable work at Rajah Rehabilitation Centre. Mr. Abdul Haseeb (Manasing Trustee, Rajah Group of Companies) released the annual Newsletter. Mr. Sivadasan (Press Club President, Chavakkad) and Mrs. Yasodhara (Chairperson, SreyasCarer Support Group) felicitated the gathering.

The event was graced by Mr. Abdul Rasheed, Mr. Abdul Rawuf, Mr. Abdul Shaffeq, Mr. Abdul Azim , Mr.Abdul Zuhin (Managing Trustees, Rajah Group of Companies) and other dignitaries. Mrs. Princy Rijo (Social worker, Rajah Rehabilitation Centre) proposed a vote of thanks.

The formal program was followed by colourful array of dances and musical acts coordinated by Mrs. Kavitha M. A (Clinical Psychologist, Rajah rehabilitation Centre), Ms.Anju V J and Ms. Christy Jose (Social Workers, Rajah Rehabilitation Centre).A beautiful variety show including double dance, group dance, songs etc. were presented by the students from Vimala College Thrissur, Little Flower College Mammiyoor, St. Mary’s College Thrissur, St. Joseph College Irinjalakkuda, Christ College Irinjalakkuda, MD College Pazhanji, MI School of Nursing Engandiyoor, Sanjos Nursing School Pavartty and Rajah School of Nursing Muthuvattor, which enthralled the audience. Participants from ‘Thanal Sheltered workshop’ of Rajah Rehabilitation Centre presented an array of cultural programs showcasing their dreams and aspiration and the ways & means to achieve it. They touched every heart with their commendable performances, indeed inspired every audience to dream differently.The audience comprised students from various colleges, staffs of Rajah Charitable Medical Trust, members of Sreyas Carer Support group, members of Alcoholic Anonymous Group, members of peer support groups of mental illness and other well-wishers. The event was truly remarkable for it proved yet again that if society was committed enough, then the inclusion of the differently-abled into the mainstream was very much possible.
