8th DEPRESSION & BIPOLAR PEER SUPPORT GROUP MEETING 25/06/2019

Peer support Groups are comprised of individuals who share a common disorder. These types of groups are focused on providing mentoring,emotional,social support,information,education and practical help to each other.

Eight meeting of Green Ribbon Group (Peer Support Group for Persons with Depression and Bipolar disorder was held on 25th June 2019 at Rajah Community Hall. The meeting started with the welcome note by Peer support group facilitator Mrs.Sh teacher and Mr.Sha followed by presidential address by our Dr.N.Pfizer.

Our Managing Trustee,Mr.A.Abdul Aleem released an attractive Brochure depicting Stress and its Management.He also did a formal inaugural of “POT LUCK TEA PARTY”.

 Mr.Sivadasan (Press Club President,Chavakkad) addressed  the gathering with his motivational speech.

               The main high light of the programme was personal sharing of the patients, wherein many patients came forward to share their journey with the disorder they go through and the treatment aspect. Few patients shared their miseries when there was discontinuation of medication on their own. Hence stressed on the proper intake of medication.

There was a special session for Care Givers on “Family Focussed Therapy” by Dr.N.Pfizer.

Almost all our participants brought home made Eatables/Snacks, which were distributed in the group along with tea and juice. 120 attendees were present for the meeting.

The next Green Ribbon Bipolar/Depression peer support meeting is scheduled in the month of September 2019.
