The 11th Schizophrenia Peer Support Group Meeting at Thanal Day Care Centre was a resounding success, fostering support, empowerment, and camaraderie among individuals affected by schizophrenia and their caregivers.
The session commenced with a heartfelt prayer followed by a warm welcome speech by Vincy, the Peer Support Group Facilitator.
Dr. N. Pfizer, Psychiatrist from Chavakkad, delivered an inspiring introductory remarks, emphasising the importance of peer support in managing schizophrenia.
Dr. R. V. Damodharan, Medical Superintendent of RCMT, set the tone with insightful presidential address.
K.C. Sivadas shared his valuable insights in the special address, shedding light on key aspects of schizophrenia management.
Dr. Anju Krishna, Consultant Psychiatrist at RCMT, delivered a compelling keynote address, offering valuable perspectives on schizophrenia treatment and support. Sajana, the Peer Group Facilitator, presented a comprehensive report on the activities and progress of the peer support group. Shambu, Clinical Psychologist at RCMT, felicitated the attendees, acknowledging their dedication and perseverance in managing schizophrenia.
Dr. Pfizer conducted an informative session for caregivers, providing guidance on how to support individuals with schizophrenia effectively.
Mrs. Princy, Social Worker at RCMT, enlightened the audience about available social welfare benefits for individuals with schizophrenia.
Sunil Kumar, Manager, and K.C. Sivadas, Press Club President of Chavakkad, along with Gracy Zakariah, Felvin Hospital Administrator, and Jancy, Nursing Superintendent, awarded the deserving individuals with Recovery Warrior Awards, recognizing their journey towards recovery.Dr. Pfizer and Dr. Anju presented Exceptional Warrior Awards to individuals who exhibited extraordinary resilience and determination in managing schizophrenia.
Participants with schizophrenia engaged in a self-esteem tree activity, where they wrote about a good deed in their life and a personal quality on leaves, fostering a sense of positivity and self-worth.
Group Gampting Aparna, Social Worker, organized enthralling group games, promoting camaraderie and social interaction among attendees.
Sheeba, Facilitator, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and sponsors for their contribution to the success of the event.
The event was expertly coordinated by the Rajah Rehabilitation Centre, ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for all participants.
