Alzheimer’s Month, september 2024 at Rajah Rehabilitation Centre,Muthuvattoor

September marked Alzheimer’s Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and supporting those affected. RRC celebrated this important month with engaging activities, including poster making and a one-week free memory clinic.

Social work trainees participated in creating informative and visually engaging posters to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Free Memory Clinic was held from September 21 to September 28, the memory clinic provided free screenings to assess cognitive impairment.

36 individuals underwent the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE).
28 participants scored above 23 points out of 30, indicating normal cognitive function.
8 participants scored below 23 points, suggesting the need for further psychiatric consultation, as they may be at risk for dementia.

The activities throughout Alzheimer’s Month were successful in engaging the community and providing valuable health screenings. We encourage continued awareness and support for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Further follow-up will be necessary for individuals identified at risk.

Schedule follow-up consultations for individuals needing further evaluation.
Plan future awareness initiatives and support activities for Alzheimer’s and dementia care.

Thank you to all volunteers and participants who contributed to the success of Alzheimer’s Month 2024.
