The Green Ribbon Group Meeting was successfully conducted at Rajah Rehabilitation Centre on 25th June 2026. The programme began with a prayer, followed by a welcome speech delivered by a PSG member. The report of the previous meeting was then presented, highlighting the activities and progress of the group. The programme featured a keynote address by Mr. Sivadasan, President of Chavakkad Press Club, who emphasized the importance of mental health awareness, community support, and social responsibility in the recovery process of persons with mental illness.
The main session focused on Bipolar Affective Disorder (BPAD). Dr. N. Pfizer delivered a presentation on the signs and symptoms of BPAD, helping participants understand the condition and its manifestations. Dr. Anjukrishna discussed the treatment modalities available for BPAD and stressed the importance of regular follow-up and medication adherence. Mr. Anilkumar elaborated on the psychological aspects of BPAD and the role of psychosocial interventions in recovery. Mrs. Princy Rijo provided valuable information regarding disability benefits and welfare schemes available for individuals living with mental illness and their families.
The sessions were highly informative and interactive, allowing participants and caregivers to clarify doubts and gain a better understanding of the disorder and its management. A sharing session was also conducted, providing an opportunity for members and caregivers to share their experiences, challenges, and coping strategies. The discussion promoted peer support, mutual encouragement, and hope among the participants. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by a PSG member, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, participants, caregivers, and organizing team for their valuable contributions and active participation.
