KUDUMBAYOGAM REPORT – APRIL 2019
Thanal,our Sheltered workshop Organized the Shreyas Family Carers Support meeting (Kudumbayogam) on 25/04/19.The main agenda of this Kudumbayogam was Introduction of Job club/work site trial.
The meeting started with the welcome note by Mr.Achuthan Nair,Shreyas Secretary followed by presidential address by our Dr.N.Pfizer.He mainly highlighted on the Introduction of Job Club and how it will be beneficial to our Thanal inmates. How the job would influence their overall well being both physically and mentally. The clients will be short listed for job trial only after going serial assessments by para vocational instructors,social workers,Psychologist, psychiatrist and the employer.
After the formal inaugural session, Social worker Mrs.Princy Rijo gave a brief introduction about Job club and work site trial. Deliberated on vocational outcome of work trial. Mrs.Princy highlighted about the CV prepared in coordination of their respective para vocational instructor along with the client. Their basic qualification, skills, interest, previous experience, physical ability ,etc were included in the CV. Employers list have to be prepared and selected for which Shreyas members expressed their interest and to actively participate in contacting appropriate disabled friendly Employer from their own home town . Work site trial will be 3 hrs in a week.
Para vocational volunteers read out the CV of short listed clients and suggestions from parents regarding their ward were included.
A very positive and appreciable response and feedback was there from Shreyas members. They expressed their eagerness to find few employers known to them, where the beneficiaries would fit in.
33 members participated in the meeting.
The session ended with a talk on Cognitive retraining related to work site trial by Mrs.Kavitha, clinical psychologist .she mainly focused on how the client performance should be monitored by the family each day during the job trial. Attention, memory, communicational skill, decision making, problem solving and speed that has to be monitored by the Employer. Feedback from employer to improve the beneficiary is essential for successful work trial as well as the family member to make the client trained and fit for the Job.
