139th Family Caregivers Monthly Meet was conducted on 26/05/2026 at Thanal Day Care Centre, Muthuvattoor, Chavakkad from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. The programme was organized as part of the monthly gathering of family caregivers with the objective of strengthening communication skills, improving food habits, and enhancing social skills among the participants.
The meeting commenced with a prayer by the Thanal inmates, creating a warm and positive atmosphere. This was followed by a welcome speech delivered by a Shreyas member, who warmly welcomed all the participants, caregivers, professionals, and trainees to the programme.
Dr. Pfizer, Psychiatrist, delivered the introductory speech and highlighted the importance of family support, proper communication, and psychosocial care in the rehabilitation and recovery process of persons with mental illness.
The Shreyas report was presented by Ms. Aparna, Social Worker, who explained the activities and progress of the group and shared updates regarding previous programmes and caregiver involvement.
Felicitation speeches were delivered by Dr. Anjukrishna, Consultant Psychiatrist, and Mr. Anilkumar, Consultant Psychologist. They appreciated the efforts of caregivers and emphasized the significance of consistent family participation, healthy lifestyle habits, and emotional support in mental health care.
The main sessions were conducted by Psychology and Social Work trainees. Interactive discussions and activities were carried out focusing on communication skills, healthy food habits, and social skills. Caregivers actively participated in the sessions and shared their experiences and concerns during the sharing session. Following the sharing session, a group game session was conducted, which encouraged interaction, participation, and bonding among the caregivers and participants.
The programme concluded successfully with active participation from caregivers, inmates, trainees, and professionals, making the monthly meet informative, supportive, and engaging for all attendees.
